I love to travel! It really is my favorite thing to do. I figured since my most recent post was about long distance relationships, I would give you some tips on traveling light with your beauty bag! There isn't a place I go without my beauty bag. I bring all my essentials: skin prep, foundation, concealer, powder, eyebrows, blush, highlight and lipstick.
There are three key factors to successfully traveling light, samples, multi-purpose & repackaging.
I live for samples! At Sephora when you are using your points for their bite size treats(samples), save them for travel. You can also get FREE samples when you visit ANY beauty store. At Ulta they have the perfect jars that actually twist shut. Sephora is a little cheap with theirs, but still great to stock up on. LOL.
I also love the Allure Beauty Box. I've had several subscription boxes before and this one is by far my fave. They always have the bomb products, Nars, Sunday Riley, Drunk Elephant, MAC, just to name a few. Most of the products I receive in this box, I use for travel. You pay $15/month and get a box of beauty goodies sometimes worth $100. Subscription boxes also help with discovering new things without a full commitment. Instead of purchasing a full size bottle and realizing you hate it after a couple uses, then pondering if you can return it to the store. You can just get a sample and decide to hate it without the guilt. It's easy and convenient.
When it comes to multi-purpose the easiest thing is lipstick. It can be used for lipstick (obviously), blush and eye shadow. Your highlighter & face powders can be used as shadow as well This saves so much space in your bag.
Repackaging saves the ultimate space. I am always looking for little containers, spray bottles, jars, etc. I shop at one store consistently for my containers, Leaves & Roots. Leaves & Roots is a health store down in Orlando that was introduced to me by my Aunt. I originally went there for some Tumeric and found container heaven!!! I use these containers to transfer my liquid blush, foundation, facial oil, setting powder, etc. They are the perfect size to downsize everything! I also shop at Muji which is in New York City. They have great items as well.
Don't forget you don't have to use these containers for everything. There are plenty of products that come in travel size. I buy the travel size container one time for a product and then just constantly refill when needed. Look at how much space I save. It would be impossible to pack everything in their original container and bring it on a plane.
I hope these tips help for your next travel adventure. Now you can bring that extra dress, bathing suit, or shoes.
Where are you off to next?
